Virginia Gomes – BBS, CA, DipBS (Tax Consultancy)
Virginia is the Managing Director of VGA Chartered Accountants and holds a Business degree and Diploma in tax consultancy from Massey University in her home town of Palmerston North. Before founding VGA Chartered Accountants in 1998, she worked for large and small accountancy practices in Masterton and Auckland and qualified as a Chartered Accountant.
Andrew Ebbett – NZDipBus
Andrew (Andy) joined the firm in November 2010 after completing a New Zealand Diploma in Business at Unitec, specialising in Accountancy. As of November 2013 he will have completed his Bachelor of Business.
Andy has extensive, first-hand experience of small and medium-sized businesses from co-owning and managing two hospitality companies in Spain for seven years. During that time he also represented Spain as a member of the Spanish national rugby team and played for a local club. Andy is currently studying towards a degree in accountancy.
Jonno Kennerley – B.Com, CA
Jonno was born and bred in Auckland and completed his degrees (including a Bachelor of Music) at the University of Auckland. He joined VGA as a senior accountant in February 2013, having completed a 3 year stint in London working in a project management role in the risk department of Credit Suisse; prior to this he spent four years at KPMG Auckland, rising to a senior position in their business advisory department. Jonno has extensive experience in advisory and tax services over a wide range of entities both in terms of size and industry, and has a passion for assisting owners and directors succeed in their goals for their businesses.
Karen Rogers – B.Com
Karen joined the firm in June 2012 after completing a Bachelor of Commerce with majors in Accounting and Commercial Law from the University of Auckland. Her diverse client base at VGA consists primarily of small to medium sized businesses, with whom she enjoys close working relationships. Karen is a provisional member of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants and is working towards her full qualification as a Chartered Accountant.
Kenny Leung – B.Com, GradDipCom, CA
Educated at Auckland Grammar School and at the University of Auckland, where he gained a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Graduate Diploma in Commerce, Kenny had a knack for numbers from an early age and says he was destined to be an accountant. His very diverse client base at VGA Chartered Accountants consists mainly of small and medium-sized businesses in the services sector, with whom he takes pride in working closely. Kenny is a full member of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants.
Martin Crocker – BBS, ACA
One of the company’s longest-standing staff members, Martin joined VGA Chartered Accountants in 2000 while completing his Bachelor of Business Studies, majoring in Accountancy, at Massey University. Martin handles a wide range of clients in an equally wide range of industries for VGA Chartered Accountants. Having previously worked in large-scale retail and in a small manufacturing import-export retailing business, he has an excellent understanding of day-to-day business operations. Martin is an associate member of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants.
Sunil Dheda – B.Bus
Sunil joined VGA in 2012 as an intern from Auckland University of Technology as part of their cooperative education programme. This was the last step in completing his Bachelor of Business, majoring in accounting and finance. Due to the value and dedication brought to the team by his involvement, at the end of his internship he was offered a full time position; he has been since working towards becoming a member of the New Zealand institute of Chartered Accountants. Outside of work, he is a very keen hockey player, maintaining his fitness by playing weekly in a competitive grade.
